FAQ

Am I good enough to join this club?

Do you know how the pieces move? You’re good!
We are about connecting, learning and playing together. As the player pool grows, we’ll move towards leaderboards so that everyone can play on a challenging level.

I would like to try it before I sign up for a membership, is there a free trial?

There is not, but you can sign up for a single drop-in ($10) to try it out!
We like to make sure that we can provide quality resources, equipment and engagement. Most of those are not free. Your contribution helps us provide a great experience for our current and future members.
(You can book single drop-ins as many times as you want, but the monthly membership saves you 25%!)

What does a Club Meet up look like?

We meet Monday nights, 5-7 pm, at the Club at the Hub in Santa Rita Ranch (South), in Liberty Hill.
You come in, confirm registration, get a name tag and find a table/opponent to play!
Generally, we aim to play games with 10 minutes on the clock for each player. Of course, you’re welcome to change the time if both players agree.

You’ll probably be able to play 3-5 games in an evening. No pressure, feel free to analyze (or just hang out) after your game.
Scoresheets will be provided to record your games’ results. This will help us make a leaderboard as the club grows.

IMPORTANT REMINDERS:
-Anybody under 10 needs to be accompanied by an adult, at all times.
-Santa Rita Knights aims to be a family friendly, safe environment. Mind your manners and be kind, courteous and polite. You can make and break someone’s first experience.
-While it is a casual environment, we’d like to be respectful to the players that are playing. No commenting on moves or the game, while the game is in play.
-Of course you should exchange chess.com usernames so you can play online! AND, we are trying to connect in person so please put that phone away as much as possible.
