Thank you for coming alongside our Journey! We are the Eden Family; Jasper & Ayla Eden, with three kids. Huxley (4yo), Camryn (2yo) and Baby Dakota. We live in Liberty Hill (Santa Rita Ranch Community) since 2020. We are originally from The Netherlands and moved to the Austin area in 2016 to start our own business: Freestyle Sports. Since then, we have served THOUSANDS of children of all ages and levels. With this project that we are taking on, we are excited we will be able to serve our own community as best as we can.
Proverbs 22:6: “Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old, he will not depart from it.
It has been a few weeks since an update. Main reason for that is within 48 hours of posting we got power at the property, someone broke in and vandalized the power lines and electricity meter. Not only did fixing that take most of our attention, it also got me personally a bit apprehensive to post updates. It took a few weeks, but we got lots of local support and help and the power is fixed.
So far we’ve been able to do the following:
– Fix the fence
– Install new lights
– Renovate the office
– Clean up the inside and outside
We were also able to host our first event! A men’s group from our church (Northpoint Church in Cedar Park) hosted their kickoff meeting with 50 guys and a BBQ truck. It filled our hearts to see the first sign of what we want the place to be: a community space for groups of people to come together and connect.
We have a few exciting things planned for September! That includes:
– Jiu Jitsu Seminar at Gracie Barra Georgetown to help fundraise for the vandalism
– Food Truck Introduction Night
– The Market LHTX (monthly “farmers” market)
– Prepping the floor for our basketball court
We are still aiming for an October opening, with a big Family Day party, where all our old and new clients are invited to. We are planning on making this Family Day an annual returning event.
Follow us on Social Media and sign up for our newsletter to stay up to date on the progress! We will share the date for the Family Day event in September.
The first few days were mainly about making an inventory on what needs to be done, what is it going to cost and which items have priority. We are meeting with a lot of local small businesses to see with who we can partner to get this space up and running. One of the biggest priorities was getting utilities connected. With this space being unoccupied for so long, we had no idea what kind of problems we would run into when getting water and electricity hooked up again. Luckily, so far (keeping our fingers crossed), no main issues have arise yet! Hopefully we can make some steps soon, we can’t wait to get our hands dirty and start building it out!
Friday afternoon, Jasper drove to Georgetown to pick up the keys and then straight home to pick up Ayla and the kids. We are so excited to show our kids what we are going to be working on for the next few months! Huxley already had great ideas on where his desk should go (we already gave him the title “Assistant TO the Regional Manager” LOL! Slightly overwhelmed, but overall super excited to getting started, we walked around the property trying to envision what it could look like.
Currently it’s still a bare bones industrial building and it will take MONTHS to get it operational. This is both overwhelming and exciting! In the mean time, we will stay at our current facility in Cedar Park. We would love for our community to come alongside us and would greatly appreciate any support; whether it’s hands on labor, purchasing small equipment or donations towards larger purchases.
To ensure a safe learning environment where everyone can come to connect, learn, practice and play; we want to make sure we do it right. This means we have a mountain of work ahead of this small family business, which comes with a lot of costs. From big projects (safaety and fire inspection, vinyl plank flooring, HVAC, lighting, large sports equipment, security, parking, furniture and landscaping) to smaller items (cleaning supplies, first aid, wall padding, fire extinguishers, hydration, exit signs)… any and all help is greatly appreciated!
We have big plans for our new facility to serve our community, that we will roll out in phases over the next few years. We envision this to be a destination, where besides providing the BEST basketball development in the area, people can come and hang out, eat food at the food trucks, kids can play at the playscape or do homework in our homework area. All of this, besides adding TWO FULL SIZE HALF COURTS in the building. We will provide timeslots and equipment to play pickleball, to come over after school for Open Gym or workout in our designated fitness area. In one of the last phases we’d like to add outside turf (for soccer, flag football and/or lacrosse practices) and a batting cage.
